Tutor the Nation

Tutor the Nation — Development Lead + Web Build

Tutor the Nation

Overview

Tutor the Nation is an education charity founded by Jacob Kelly, built on the belief that better education should be free for all. The charity launched at the start of the pandemic and grew rapidly due to the rise in home tutoring, but their brand looked corporate and conservative. To attract more Gen Z tutors, they needed a full rebrand and a younger, more vibrant website to match their vision and personality.

My Role

I was the lead developer, managing a team of 3 other developers to deliver the site. I worked directly with the project manager and design team to keep the build on track, and took a lead role in speaking to the client during the process to answer questions and make them feel comfortable throughout.

What I Delivered

A complete website rebuild to accompany the new brand identity. The new logo cleverly represents bridging the education gap, and a secondary brand character named Bridget was created to work across all formats from 3D signage to video animations.

The site was built with bold typography, vibrant colours, and a library of custom stickers designed to appeal to Gen Z and future generations of young volunteers. Delivered under budget and on schedule.

It was time to say goodbye to the old website and I'm so delighted with our new look — an inspiring, friendly brand that reflects the inspiring, friendly people that I'm so proud to call our volunteers. A huge thanks to Elle, Kate, and all at Drew + Rose!
